New Residential Colleges in Continental Europe

10 March 2001 (collegiateway.org) — The new International University Bremen is going to begin its life this coming year with three residential colleges, developed with help from Rice University in Texas. It is an interesting inversion to see, since it is common in higher education to distinguish the non-collegiate Germanic tradition from the collegiate British tradition—things would seem to have come full circle with this new German university organizing itself into colleges. In addition, the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands has just established its first residential college, University College, with help from people at Oxford and elsewhere. You can learn more about these new colleges by visiting their websites in the Collegiate Way’s directory of Residential Colleges Worldwide.
