GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

- Thanksgiving Break is Upon Us -

Residents of Moore-Strong Hall are reminded that the building will close
at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, 23 November, and reopen at 3:00 p.m. on
Sunday, 27 November. Before leaving residents are required to unplug
all electrical appliances except refrigerators, aquaria, and answering
machines, to turn out all lights, and to close all windows.

- Donate Food to a Needy Family for Thanksgiving -

Officer Jerome Lee, Strong College’s Adopt-a-COPP, is taking donations
of non-perishable foodstuffs (canned goods, etc.) to be given to a local
family at Thanksgiving. Look for the sign and donation box in the
Junior Common Room, and leave any items you can spare there. Thanks to
Officer Lee for his service in this very worthy cause.

- French Society and Interest Group -

The Strong College French Society, sponsored by Strong College members
Mark Schumacher and Meg Campbell, invites everyone to view the movie “Au
Revoir les Enfants” (Dr. O’Hara, one of the College’s noted French
scholars, translates this as “See you later, kids”) this Tuesday in the
Senior Common Room (Room 163) at 7:00 p.m. Meg is also accepting short
stories, cartoons, drawings, etc. (en Français) for a French newsletter
— drop them off in Room 103 by midnight, 2 December.

- Congressional Visit a Great Success -

Sixth District Congressman Howard Coble was Dr. White’s guest at the
President’s Tea last week, and true to his nature he gave a speech (a
fine one it was, too). Many thanks to Congressman Coble for joining us,
to all the Strong College members who came to meet him.

- Need a Quiet Place to Study? -

Visit the Strong College Library (your library, Room 330). Thanks to
our crack team of volunteer librarians it is open for your reading and
studying pleasure Sunday 7:00 - 11:00 p.m., and Monday - Thursday 1:00 -
5:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 11:00 p.m.

- News of Members -

Lisa DiLuigi got a part in the opera Street Scene — congratulations
Lisa!

- Have a Maintenance Problem in Moore-Strong Hall? -

Remember you can always call the new fix-it line, 334-FIXT (FIXT from
campus phones), and the maintenance staff will get to it as soon as
possible.

- Poem-of-the-Week -

The Strong College Poem-of-the-Week is now appearing on Dr. White’s
bulletin board outside the College Office. This week’s poem, for
Thanksgiving, is e.e. cummings’s sonnet “i thank You God for most this
amazing day” (1950).
